When it comes to velux & skylights in Reculver — an exposed coastal village dominated by the twin medieval Reculver Towers — and with housing that is largely coastal Victorian and inter-war housing, rooflights leaking at the flashing under wind-driven coastal rain is the typical call.
We keep it honest — supply and fit Velux windows and rooflights matched to your roof pitch, or replace and re-flash a leaking unit, with genuine Velux units and correct flashing kits — a free Reculver survey, a fixed written quote and no call-out fee.
Most Reculver roofs are reached from a tower or roof ladder; scaffold is quoted where a job needs safe standing time at height. Scaffold is specified for: re-roofs, chimney and valley work, and anything beyond a day at height - always itemised in your written quote, never a hidden extra, and we arrange it.
Reculver’s seafront and near-coast roofs face salt and wind uplift, and access varies from open plots to tight terraces; scaffold and permits are planned in advance. Pavement scaffold and skip permits go through Canterbury City Council; allow a few working days on streets like Reculver high street, Reculver’s older terraces where space is tight.
As a exposed coastal village, Reculver has post-war and 1960s coastal bungalows and chalets near the Roman fort, holiday and beachfront homes, and modern coastal builds. Each era brings its own roofing demands, and our Velux and roof window installation approach adapts to whichever you own. Velux and roof-window work in Reculver covers new installations into pitched roofs and fixing the leaks that badly-flashed windows cause. Correct flashing kits and soakers are everything.
What sets Reculver apart for roofers is this: One of the most wind-exposed spots on the north Kent coast, right by the sea. Wind-uplift and driving salt spray define every job — marine-grade lead, mechanical wind-clips and secure ridge systems are non-negotiable. Streets like Reculver Lane, Bishopstone Lane, Coast Road, Beltinge Road show the pattern clearly, and it informs our Velux and roof window installation work throughout the area. Severe coastal exposure — wind-clip fixing and marine-grade lead are mandatory.
